Wednesday Night Sailing

There are several ways accomplish the same goal, but in this particular group I would like for you to be patient , listen and follow instructions. You will gain more in knowledge that you could ever imagine and as result become a better sailor. I want you not only to look like the pros, but also to act like them.  Following is a list of what you should pay attention to on Wednesday Nights:

1. Try to be by the boats by 4PM and help putting the boats in the water. You will learn some each time plus it helps me to get the job done.

2. Board your boat by the hoist and I will push you in the direction that you need to go in order to hoist your sails.

3. Only keep the tie up along side to the dock to work or rig the sails. Hoisting the sails should be done only when the bowline is tied to the dock and the boat is sitting head to wind.

4. Always keep the one jib sheet tight when the jib is not hoisted, but rigged

5. Remove or tie off your stern line so that is doesn’t drag in the water while sailing.

6. Remove bowline and store inside the boat.

7. Put dock-lines and fenders behind your back support, or hand off to a Team Paradise volunteer.

8. Let’ts go sailing

9. Try to stagger your arrival back to the dock so that we have a chance to grab your bow and assist in your docking.

10. Roll up your sails. Always take great care of your sails. They are not only expensive, but you need them to look like new in order to be fast. Handle them gently and avoid having them to drop in the water.

11. Make sure that the boat is bailed from water.

12.   Lave the boat nicely tied up to the dock unless other instructions are given.

Take pride in this job, because here is where rockies are spotted.
