The Defenders at work

Team Paradise picked up where we left off at the King Mango Strut. Today, we cleaned Paradise Island 305 to prove a point. We are the Defenders of Biscayne Bay!

Before we began the cleanup, we lined up for a photo. It’s a valuable sailing skill that will eventually lead to a sailboat race. It’s all about awareness of time and distance, forward progression, and how your boat moves compared to other boats. Are you on a parallel course, merging, or diverging? Adjust your sails accordingly. Trim the jib to perfection, then match the mainsheet trim to the jib.

Safety Protocol Handbook.

Lining up!

One of our students who was riding with me in our propeller-less safety boat, asked if she could use my phone to take some pictures and video. Check out the video and picture below:

The two boats pictured above are perfectly lined up! They are overlapped and sailing parallel to on and other!

It’s a win-win

Thank you to our incredible volunteers, students, teachers, parents, caregivers, and generous benefactors for helping make my dream a reality. ❤️

Lining up! This is what you should look like. Each boat is not overlapped, but at the very least, they are within the same picture frame, the sails are trimmed correctly, and they are all pointing in roughly the same direction. Let's do it!
